Every region in Croatia has its own culinary specialties. Mainland cuisine is strongly inspired by the Slavik influences with a lot of black pepper, paprika and garlic. Along the coast the food is more Mediterranean with a lot of olive oil and herbs and spices like rosemary, citrus fruit and cinnamon.

With so many influences from other cultures food in Croatia is certainly not boring and it is very varied.

Nearby

  • Plitvice Lakes - the largest national park in Croatia. The national park is world famous for its lakes arranged in cascades.  Plitvice Lakes are distanced about 140km from Gajac.  Must see ;)

  • Krka Waterfalls  -  is one of the Croatian national parks, named after the river Krka that it encloses.

  • Lun Olives (Island of Pag)- Lun, the northernmost town on the island of Pag and natural reserve of olives. At about 23 acres grew about 80 000 olives and about 1,500 olive trees called "Oblica" which give rise to their intertwined shape of stone and wood, creating an interesting form and surrealist contour of the wood. Such locations as Lun exist only on two more places in the world at Israel and at Greece. about 20 km from  Gajac

  • Paklenica National Park Due to its unique natural features, magnificent forests and extraordinary geomorphologic structures, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was proclaimed a national park in 1949. The main reason for proclaiming this area a national park was the protection of the largest and best preserved forest complex in the territory of Dalmatia, which was threatened by overexploitation. The Paklenica National Park stretches on the area of 95 km2 , on the littoral slope of South Velebit under the zone of highest mountain peaks Vaganski vrh (1752) and Sveto brdo (1753).  about 80 km from Gajac

  • Kornati national park The Kornati Archipelago, a separate group of islands in the central part of the Croatian Adriatic Sea, is spread over an area of about 320km2 and covers about 150 islands, islets and rocks. This is the most complex group of islands in the Adriatic Sea, covering as many as 12% of all Croatian islands, at only 1% of the total area of the Croatian territorial sea.
